What has changed the most since you started out in the industry?

My first day at Alliance Capital out of college I was set up with a desk of hundreds of bank statements, a trusty pencil and ruler to manually reconcile each position and transaction between the custodian and investment manager. Throughout the last 18 years this task has been taken over by electronic delivery of statements, manual recon tools such as SmartStream, and automated transactional processing within the accounting systems.

What are three words that describe how you do your job?

Aspirational – The WealthTech space is changing and expanding at a rapid rate. I am constantly seeking knowledge of those changes within the industry and learning new skills to bring to our F2 clients.

Passionate – Working with people who enjoy their job is contagious. Being able to recommend updated data strategies for our clients and bring data into the hands of the consumers gives me great satisfaction at the end of each business day.

Perseverant – Change within a company is not easy for all involved. Whether you are bringing in a new tool which may complete a job which is currently done with a human touch or finding solutions for using data to make strategic decisions. I work to encourage my clients to work through the current challenges and find ideal solutions for their tech stack going forward.

What excites you most about the WealthTech industry right now?

WealthTech companies are diversifying their offerings and expanding their audience for consumption. The introduction of cloud based data storage as well as business intelligence companies enhancing their UI/UXs allows smaller firms to analyze and consume the data trends without the overhead and cost.
